For most of us, our guiding year has drawn to a close and we won’t be seeing the youth until sometime in September. Now is the perfect time to refresh, recharge, and relax! But soon, it will be time to start thinking about welcoming a new roster of youth members and co-guiders, and starting to make plans for the new year. I hope you turn to the Girl Guide Library for some fun inspiration and ideas for first meetings, name games, songs to sing, and more!
Digital resources can help you with planning, tracking, and campfire songs, while physical resources might make a special meeting a teensy bit easier to plan or carry out. Old program books and game books are a great resource too — just keep diversity, equity, and inclusivity goals in mind as many old books are not secular and may contain outdated unintentionally non-inclusive practices. When we know better, we do better!
Don’t forget to check out the Guider Learning Path in MemberZone and visit the Event Calendar to take advantage of all the many trainings and special events available to you this fall. (CONNECT conference in October, I’m looking at you!)
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, want to borrow a resource, or have a resource to share with the Ottawa guiding community!
Yours in Guiding,
Guider Dragonfruit (aka Andi Drajewicz)
