Edible Campfires are a staple of all levels of Girl Guiding, but when I wanted to do it for an activity at one of my guide meetings, I couldn’t find a comprehensive sheet that talked about both fire safety for real campfires, and how to make the edible kind. This one includes:
- basic fire safety rules to talk about first
- candy and treat ideas for each level of the edible campfire
- song suggestions
You can use this worksheet to run a station at a meeting that is about more than just treats (but of course, there are treats too!). This works great as a final activity for a camp skills night, an indoor campfire, or as one part of a Halloween party. It could work with the Spirit of Guiding or Camping Skills program areas.
The version of Edible Campfires that we use in our unit uses a chocolate muffin top as the “base,” in an effort to turn this into a bigger snack. If you’d like to add the muffin top option (which is very popular with our girls), I use this Double Chocolate Muffin Top Recipe.
